A Technology Assessment is Technovate's starting point for almost every engagement, regardless of whether the answer turns out to be AI, Odoo, custom software, Augmentify, infrastructure, or something else entirely. This checklist explains what we look at and what to bring.
You don't need to know the technology first.
Most technology projects don't start with a product in mind. They start with a bottleneck, an inefficient process, disconnected information, or an idea that needs to become real. A Technology Assessment exists to understand the problem before recommending a solution path, not the other way around.
Five questions every assessment starts with.
Describe the problem in business terms, not technology terms: slow response times, manual work that doesn't scale, disconnected systems, or a process that breaks down at a certain volume. The clearer the problem, the more useful the assessment.
List the tools already in use, such as spreadsheets, an existing ERP, a website, or communication channels, and who touches the process day to day. This shapes both the solution and how much change your team will need to absorb.
Define what a good outcome looks like in practical terms: time saved, fewer errors, faster response, better visibility. A specific definition of success makes it possible to check, later, whether the project actually worked.
Note your budget range, timeline, compliance or regulatory requirements, and anything that must not be disrupted during implementation. Constraints aren't a weakness to hide. They're what makes the recommendation realistic.
This is usually the one question you don't need to answer yourself: AI, Odoo, custom software, Augmentify, infrastructure, or a combination. Part of the assessment's job is mapping your answers to the first four questions onto the right path, or combination of paths.
